Types Of Braces

Mini Metal Braces

We use mini metal braces in our practice. Mini stainless steel brackets are 30% smaller than customary orthodontic brackets. These brackets are actually constructed of a stronger grade of steel to account for their smaller size. Mini metal braces are as effective as traditional braces, yet less obvious. Patients with mini metal braces appreciate the improved brushing and flossing capabilities they provide, as well as increased comfort.

Clear Braces

Clear braces are made of transparent materials and are therefore less visible on your teeth than metal braces. For this reason, clear braces are used mainly on older teenagers and adult patients who have cosmetic concerns. While they are visually less prominent, they do require more attention to oral hygiene to prevent stains from forming. For these reasons, clear braces tend to be used more on upper front teeth than on lower teeth. They are smoother and are suggested for musicians who play wind instruments.

Clear Aligners

Clear aligners use a series of nearly invisible, removable, and comfortable aligners to straighten your teeth. They are difficult to detect and no one can tell you are wearing them because they are made of clear materials. Not only are the aligners practically invisible, they are removable, so you can eat and drink what you want while in treatment, brushing and flossing are less of a hassle. The aligners are comfortable and have no metal to cause mouth abrasions during treatment. They are recommended for minor tooth movement only. Major cases are better treated with braces. We also use them as retainers after completed treatment in the majority of our cases.
